Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for driving business growth and innovation? The St. Maarten
Chamber of Commerce and Industry (COCI) is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Officer to join our team and play a key role in advancing the economic prosperity of St.
Maarten.

Position: Business Development Officer
Location: Philipsburg, St. Maarten
Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement strategies to promote business growth and expansion in St. Maarten, in collaboration with stakeholders and partners.
• Identify new business opportunities and investment prospects, conducting market research and analysis to assess feasibility and potential impact.
• Cultivate relationships with local businesses, entrepreneurs, investors, and industry associations to facilitate networking, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing.
• Provide advisory support and guidance to businesses seeking to start, scale, or relocate to St. Maarten, including assistance with regulatory compliance, financing options, and market entry strategies.
• Coordinate workshops, seminars, and networking events to foster entrepreneurship, innovation,
and professional development within the business community.
• Monitor economic trends, policy developments, and industry dynamics to identify emerging
opportunities and challenges for St. Maarten’s business sector.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and recommendations for senior management and stakeholders
on business development initiatives and outcomes.


Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, economics, marketing, or related field; advanced degree or professional certification is a plus.
• Proven experience in business development, sales, marketing, or related roles, with a track record of achieving targets and driving results.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and develop actionable insights. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Strategic mindset with the ability to think creatively, anticipate market opportunities, and develop innovative solutions.
• Knowledge of St. Maarten’s business environment, regulatory framework, and industry sectors is an advantage.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other business software tools.
• Fluency in English; proficiency in Dutch is desirable.

Economist –

Are you a skilled economist with a passion for analyzing economic trends and driving informed decision making? The St. Maarten Chamber of Commerce and Industry (COCI) is seeking a talented Economist to join our team and provide expert analysis and insights to support the growth and development of St. Maarten’s business community.

Position: Economist
Location: Philipsburg, St. Maarten

Responsibilities:
• Conduct economic research and analysis on local, regional, and global trends affecting St. Maarten’s economy, including GDP growth, employment rates, inflation, and industry performance.
• Monitor key indicators and data sources to assess the health of St. Maarten’s economy and identify opportunities and risks for businesses and entrepreneurs.
• Prepare economic forecasts, reports, and presentations for internal stakeholders, government agencies, and the broader community, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop policy proposals, business strategies, and initiatives aimed at promoting economic growth, innovation, and sustainability.
• Engage with stakeholders, including government officials, industry associations, and academic
institutions, to exchange knowledge, share best practices, and advocate for policies that support business development.
• Stay abreast of regulatory changes, policy developments, and emerging issues impacting St. Maarten’s business environment, providing timely analysis and guidance to stakeholders.
• Support the development and implementation of economic development programs, projects, and initiatives to enhance St. Maarten’s competitiveness and resilience.

Qualifications:

• BSc degree in economics, finance, or a related field, with a focus on economic analysis and research.

• Proven experience in economic research, analysis, and forecasting, preferably in a government agency, research institute, or international organization.

• Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with proficiency in statistical analysis software and econometric modeling techniques.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex economic concepts into clear and compelling narratives.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and deadlines effectively.

• Knowledge of St. Maarten’s economic landscape, regulatory framework, and industry sectors is desirable.

• Fluency in English; proficiency in Dutch is an advantage.
